Project Description

Present in and around the Ankeveense Plassen
For a few weeks we were part of a team responsible for removing medium-sized trees and shrubs from the leggers in the Ankeveens Plassen. This with the aim of preserving biodiversity.

The Ankeveen Lakes are a maze of capholes, legacies and vast lakes that were created during the time of peat extraction. Today, peat is no longer extracted and this area has become home to many species of plants and animals.

For example, to ensure that these plants and animals retain their habitat, some parts of young storage are removed so that the succession can start again.

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘇𝗲𝘁?
For this project, we used our WK220 NG-5, a 22-ton amphibious excavator. The WK220 NG-5 was equipped with a tiller to remove young storage and reeds. A tree cutter was used for the coarser work.

The Ankeveense Plassen are very waterlogged, with marshes that have poor carrying capacity. This makes the WK220 NG-5 the ideal machine to use. Because of this machine there is no need to use baffles that cause deep ruts. The ruts left by our WK 220 NG-5 will recover very quickly thanks to our low ground pressure. Our visit to this area will then no longer be visible.

Together, we get further

We carried out this project on behalf of Van Oostrum Westbroek B.V .. Together we have joined forces and deployed the right equipment in the right places.

And the result: the area of the Ankeveen Lakes is now ready for the upcoming breeding season.
