Jakob Knoop and J. van der Es ventured into the world of entrepreneurship in the dredging market. Knoop Baggerwerken was born. From the outset, this sector has been a speciality for the gentlemen. It constantly presented opportunities to come up with new, appropriate and, above all, creative solutions. Solutions to problems in and around the water.
A switch was made from maintenance dredging to nature restoration projects. Knoop and Van Der Es wanted to better serve their customers by offering more customised solutions. The challenge of creating something new provided them with more energy. In addition, a social change was underway, resulting in a greater focus on restoring nature. Of course, this was no problem, because in essence this was already a great passion for Knoop and Van Der Es.
In 2005, the first Waterking was designed and manufactured in Asia. In addition, J. van der Es left the company, but Knoop persevered.

according to Jakob Knoop. We continued to develop and innovate, with the aim of becoming one of the best in the development and production of high-quality amphibious equipment. In doing so, we pay close attention to sustainability, efficiency and reliability.
What started as a machine intended for personal use has grown into something bigger. People saw the Waterking in operation and wanted to use it themselves. The requests started pouring in.
In response to the requests, we first undertook further developments. The result: the sale of the first amphibious excavator, the “Waterking”. This led to the establishment of Knoop BV's sister company, Waterking BV.
Knoop Baggerwerken is expanding its activities. Since this year, we have also been active in anchoring systems. We started developing these systems and realised our first anchoring project in Bomhofplas in 2019.
The combination of dredging and anchoring systems is, at first glance, an unusual choice. However, it is not as far-fetched as it might seem. Jakob Knoop has been passionate and innovative from the very beginning. When he was approached with the request for an anchoring system, he got to work. Knoop never shies away from a challenge. This mindset applies to the entire organisation.
After extensive development, we are now also active in anchoring systems for various floating structures. These include floating solar parks, engineering structures, and other floating structures.
In the meantime, Knoop Baggerwerken and Waterking expanded their machinery fleet to such an extent that they were also able to offer equipment for hire. So Knoop set up another sister company: Knoop Rental. At the same time, Knoop Baggerwerken was converted into Knoop BV.
More than 35 years have passed since then, but we are still far from finished. Current social developments have made our work more important than we could ever have imagined.
Restoring nature and providing opportunities for green energy is a passion that burned brightly 35 years ago and has never been extinguished.
