At Knoop B.V., sustainability and safety are top priorities. We work as environmentally friendly as possible at the office and on site, and make sure everyone is aware of all risks for the work to be carried out as safely as possible.
We generate our own electricity through solar panels on our roof. We use the energy to cool and heat our office building. And we use the energy to charge our electric cars.
We also promote digital meetings to prevent unnecessary travel.
We are working to make our machines carbon-neutral. We are exploring how hydrogen and electrification can help in this regard.
We are currently developing workboats that can run on hydrogen and our sister company, Waterking, has realised the first electric, amphibious excavator: The WK350 NG-E. WK350 NG-E was on display at Bauma 2025 in Munich (DE), together with workboat Kelly.
Workboat Kelly offers options for different types of engines, to be environmentally conscious as well. The options are:
Diesel is also a possibility if there is a desire for it. Then workboat Kelly will use a Stage 5 diesel engine.
Besides the innovative developments, we still use machines that run on the cleanest diesel engines available: Stage 5 diesel engines. These engines meet the strictest standards and emit fewer pollutants than previous generations. In addition, our diesel engines run on HVO100, a renewable fuel that significantly reduces CO2 emissions.
There is no Knoop B.V. without our staff. Which is why we ensure that everyone is able to work safely. We achieve this by staying up-to-date with all training, courses and by providing personal protective equipment.
Our work involves risks. This is why we make sure everyone working on site is well prepared. VCA certification is non-negotiable for us. This goes for operators as well as office workers visiting project sites.
It is important to us that everyone feels comfortable in the workplace. This also means that we hold each other accountable for safety. By fostering an ongoing discussion and adjusting rules where necessary, we ensure that everyone can do their job properly and safely.
In addition, we encourage an open culture where everything can be discussed.
We do not consider sustainability and safety as separate topics. They go hand in hand. We continue to seek smarter, greener and safer ways of working, so we can progress without ado.
