Dike reinforcement

Dike reinforcement works were recently carried out on the Monnickendammerdijk in Amsterdam. We were also on site to provide support with our amphibious excavator, the WK220 NG-5. The machine was fitted with a DOP 200 submersible pump and equipped with a dredging hose with floats and an HDPE onshore pipeline.

Our work involved pumping approximately 4,000 m³ of sludge and moving sand to the location where the sludge had previously been. This creates a more stable subsoil, ensuring that the dike will continue to provide optimum strength for many years to come.

The project lasted 6 days, during which the WK220 NG-5 clocked up a total of 50 operating hours. Thanks to the pressure pipes we brought with us, the sludge was pumped over a distance of 150 metres.

During the operation, we had to contend with strong winds, which presented a few challenges. However, thanks to the spud poles on the additional pontoons of the WK220 NG-5, we were able to continue working efficiently and safely.

A great result we’re proud of: a reinforced dike that will continue to help keep the local area safe for years to come.
