Anchoring of the Iffezheim floating solar farm

At the end of 2025, Knoop B.V. completed the anchoring work for a floating solar farm in Iffezheim, in south-west Germany. Over a construction period of just three weeks, thirty anchor points were installed to provide a solid foundation for the further construction of the solar farm.

Despite extensive preparation and the availability of ground data, every site remains unique. That is precisely why we tailor our anchoring method to the actual conditions on site during the works.

During installation, it became apparent that the ground at several locations was considerably denser and harder than had been previously determined. As a result, we had to deviate from the plan and consult the geotechnical investigation report to identify alternative locations for installing the anchors. Rather than sticking to the original plan, we immediately carried out additional tensile tests and ground tests to assess these alternative anchor locations first.

The test data collected, combined with close consultation with the structural engineering firm, enabled us to optimise the anchor configuration and adapt the anchoring system to the local ground conditions. By strategically repositioning the anchors, we were still able to achieve an anchoring system that fully met the specified requirements in terms of holding force, stability and reliability.

This project demonstrates that a successful anchoring system depends not only on thorough preparation, but above all on specialist knowledge and the ability to respond quickly to unexpected circumstances during the execution phase. Thanks to the flexibility of our equipment, the experience of our implementation team and a pragmatic approach, the work was completed on schedule.

With a satisfied client, a successfully completed anchoring system and, once again, valuable practical experience, we can look back on a successful project.
