Jakob Knoop, together with J. van der Es, jumped into the world of business in the dredging market. Knoop Baggerwerken was born. From the beginning, this sector has been a specialty for the gentlemen. It constantly brought new, appropriate and above all creative solutions. Solutions to problems in and around the water.
A “switch” was made from maintenance dredging to nature restoration projects. Knoop and v/d Es wanted to help their clients better by offering more customization. The challenge of creating something new; that created more energy. There was also a social change going on, which resulted in a greater focus on restoring nature. Not a problem, of course, because in essence this was already what was a great passion for Knoop and Van Der Es.
In 2005, the first Waterking was designed and produced in Asia. In addition, J. van der Es stepped down from the company, but Knoop persevered.
“Through hard work we got to where we are today”,
according to Jakob Knoop. We developed on and on, aiming to be among the best in developing and producing high-quality, amphibious equipment. In doing so, we pay close attention to durability, efficiency and reliability.
What started as a machine intended for personal use has grown into something bigger. People saw the Waterking running and wanted to use it themselves. The requests came in.
In response to the requests, we went on to further developments first. The result was the sale of the first amphibious excavator “Waterking”. This resulted in the establishment of the sister company of Knoop BV; Waterking BV.
Knoop Dredging is broadening its operations. Since this year, in fact, we have also been active in anchoring systems. Then we started to develop, to become active in 2019 in Bomhofplas to realize our first anchoring project.
The combination of dredging and anchoring systems is at first an unusual choice. Yet it is not as far apart as first thought. Since the beginning, Jakob Knoop has been very passionate and innovative. When he was approached with the question for an anchoring system, he got to work. Knoop never shies away from a challenge. A mindset that applies to the entire organization.
So after a lot of development, we are also active in anchoring systems for various floating structures. Such as floating solar parks, works of art or other floating constructions.
Meanwhile, Knoop Dredging and Waterking expanded their machinery so much that they also gave them the ability to rent out equipment. So Knoop set up another sister company; Knoop Rental. In the process, Knoop Baggerwerken was transformed into Knoop BV.
We are now more than 35 years on, but far from finished. Especially with the current, social developments, our work has become more important than we could have imagined before.
Restoring nature and providing opportunities for green energy is a passion that burned fervently 35 years ago and has never been extinguished.
